Suffering from SNRS?
What in the world is SNRS?
Shiny New Relationship Syndrome.
I have talked to people, men and women who cannot seem to stay in a relationship. They say they want to be in a relationship, and not just a temporary fun time. I am hearing they want commitment. love, companionship and to build a life with someone, yet…..
Every time you look up, they are dating someone new.
Now this is not meant to make anyone feel bad about themselves,
We are here to take a look and have a conversation.
There are multiple reasons why people are serial daters:
Fear of commitment
Baggage from prior relationships
Constantly attracting the wrong type of person
Not understanding how healthy relationships work
I could go on and on, but today we are going to talk about SNRS.
People love being in love. New love. Fresh love. Being attracted to someone. Dating. Laughing. Doing outer life together, Very surface or superficial. You go to your house; I go to my house, and I will see you for the next fun adventure. Everything is cute or sexy when its new.
Some people just love the idea of “falling in love”.
Eventually, your inner life becomes enmeshed with this outer life you have been living in and cracks begin to seep into what at one time seemed to be “perfect”.
Now we are getting to know one another for real. Its not always fun and sexy anymore. There are disagreements, lifestyle differences, every night is not date night, real conversations are happening more often than not.
Up oh… This is getting serious.
This is where a decision is made.
Do I want to build with this person?
Low an behold, something “better” catches your eye, and you are back on the merry go round. Same carousal, different horse.
And the fun begins again.
Now ask yourself… Is it them or is it me?
Do I only like Shiny New Relationships?
If you find yourself wanting the same things as the woman above but you continue to go from relationship to relationship, take some time off from dating, look for any patterns in:
The type of men you date
What tends to end the relationship
The time length of the relationship
The feelings you develop
There is so much more to be said on this topic, but this my friend is just….
Food for thought.
